Beside remote access to the lab, there is a new way to evaluate open networking world – Cumulus VX.
Now you can dive into the world of open networking, experiment and design deployment scenarios without hurting time to production and develop new applications without real hardware on site.
What is Cumulus VX (Virtual eXperience)?
A virtual appliance that run on major hypervisors making traditional networking protocols such as BGP and MLAG and Cumulus Networks-specific technologies such as Prescriptive Topology Manager (PTM) available for testing and configuration.
It’s free and available for download from Cumulus Networks web. Cumulus VX is supported by the community, and basic guides are available from Cumulus Networks.
Please be noted that Cumulus VX is not a production-ready virtual switch or virtual router. It is not intended for use in a production environment.
The major difference between Cumulus VX and Cumulus workbench – the latter had real hardware behind, available only on schedule and limited by access time.
All you need to try Cumulus VX is your laptop.
Cumulus VX can run in the following environments:
- Virtualbox
- Standalone
- With GNS3
- With Vagrant
